Wholesale Skates:  History

Southeastern Skate Supply evolved out of a skating rink that was built in Salem, VA in 1949.  The rink started buying supplies for other rinks in the area, and eventually the distributorship grew out of that.  The original rink was destroyed by a fire in 1974 and we moved to a new location in the adjoining city of Roanoke, VA. The original owner (E.W. Ramsey) had two sons and one of them (Wayne Ramsey) opened a second location in Mableton, GA (outside of Atlanta).  Two of E.W. Ramsey's grandsons are now running the family business.

Over the years we have won several awards and served in leadership posts for different organizations.  Here are a few of the highlights:

Roller Skating Association Hall of Fame (E.W. Ramsey)
Roller Skating Manufacturers Lifetime Membership (Glenn Sr. and Wayne Ramsey)
Roller Skating Manufacturers Chairman (David and Glenn Jr)
Roanoke Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Nominee (twice)
Square Wheels Distributor of theYear
